Was in Japantown and tried this small bakery inside a grocery store. Needed to get someone from the grocery coz the attendant was inside the kitchen washing pans and there's already a line forming behind me. Tried their coffee crunch cake, I wish the topping was evenly distributed in the cake, like less crunch on the topping and some in the middle to balance out the sweetness. All in all it was good.

Read amazing review's about this cute sweets counter and knew I had to swing by! Located in Super Mira grocery store, Yasukochi's is a small and unassuming little bakery but has very yummy treats! They're famous for their coffee crunch cake and it definitely didn't disappoint. They have whole cakes as well as slices, which sell out pretty quickly. This place is so well known that my friends from the east coast that are familiar with SF stuff have even heard about it and have requested I take them when they visit. Would highly recommend!

I had heard a lot about the coffee crunch cake and decided to order one for a work celebration. I tried calling in the morning to ask about prices, but after three attempts with no answer, I ended up visiting the bakery in person. The cake store was inside a grocery store on the right side, with a small counter. They told me the 8-inch cake was $50 and the 9-inch was $65, both including tax and cash only. I ordered a 9-inch coffee crunch cake for the following week. There was a bit of confusion when picking up the cake, but eventually, I got it. I was told to keep it in the fridge until serving it later that afternoon. The cake itself was light and fluffy, with a delicate cream and sweet yet slightly bitter coffee crunch bits. It's a good choice if you prefer something not too sweet or heavy, though I found it a bit one-note or plain. It wasn't personally my favorite, but overall, it's a pretty decent cake.

Come early, a long line forms around 10:15am -- or, within 15 minutes of opening. A reminder: let's keep it demure! To the ladies in front of me: You don't have any business pre-ordering 2 cakes and also buying 12 slices of the precious cakes, considering the long line behind you. The woman behind the counter knows what I'm talking about -- I saw that deeply warranted side eye. Lastly, the flavors, the texture! We were there to pick up some slices for a visit to some friends. One slice each of coffee crunch, lemon crunch, chocolate crunch, and chocolate strawberry swirl. Each were total perfection, though I most recommend the coffee crunch.
